Game recommendation for the XBOX 360

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

I have been playing one game in particular on the 360 in particular lately and that is NHL 10. I recently finished my first season with the Penguins and won the Stanley Cup.  One thing in particular that I found when starting season 2 is that it is much more tougher now. I have been playing the game lately without a salary cap, but I am seriously thinking about starting a new season with Colorado Avalanche and with the salary cap. I want to do this so that I can feel how it is in the regular NHL season.

Too be honest I want to play with Colorado Avalanche since that is Forsbergs old team in the NHL  during his golden years.

For those of you out there. How do you play each season? What is your favorite team?

Halo OSDT from Bungie Studios review

Monday, October 19th, 2009

For the last couple of weeks I have been playing one of the most anticipated games of this year. Halo OSDT . It is one of the most anticipated games of this year. My review unit of the game was actually delayed because they sold so many copies of the game here in Sweden so that they did not have any review units availible for reviewers.

First impressions:

My first impressions was that it is a solid game.  They have keept the great stuff from the earlier games but added features such as going back to the roots but at the same time keeping the great fighting moments from the earlier versions.

Compared to the other Halo games that has been released this one goes outside the box by redefining what Halo stands for. There is six hour of fun in this game, a new cooperative mode called Firefight and a disc that contains maps and other fun stuff.

In this game you will not be Master Chief but instead you will be the Orbital Shock Dropper. These are highly-trained but not exactly super soldiers, that do not have all the strengths of the super chief.

When playing the game I have noticed that you can only aim one weapon at once.  When the health bar has gone down you have to find a health pack that powers it up once more. If you compare it to the Master Chief  you will notice that they do not take as many bullets or handles the fall as good.

Compared to thearlier versions you have a new and exciting storyline ahead of you. Bungie have not done the traditional Halo storyline. Instead they have created a great game that is driven on the character.

The game starts as a group of Halo OSDT soliders are going to burn through the  atmosphere and going into the battle for New Mombasa into tiny one man pods. When playing the game you will notice that the other soldiers call them as Helljumpers.

There is just not the typical Halo faces you will meet new faces such as Buck, the squad leader, Dare the tough girl that has a mysterious history and a couple of other that has specialized combat modes.

The person that you will play as is The Rookie a quiet and inexperienced soldier.

The action in the game take places as  the Covenant is having a hard time and making the Prophets of Regret make an emergency slipstream escape. This happens just as your squad is transporting to earth. When you are playing the game you will notice that there will be a shockwave and everything goes black.

To be able to survive under the game you have to be able to find the other Halo OSDT that has been scattered around the city. They have added an excellent soundtrack that adds to feeling of being lonely and being out there. To be able to find the other OSDT around the city to your help you have the city’s Al which is responsible for the cities facilities.

You are playing a murder mystery that allows you explore the darkness around the city.

When you find the other Halo OSDT soldiers a switch is flipped and you will find other soldiers and a new way of fighting. You will get to know alot of new enemies that you did not know about before. The odds will be against you, but if you have the fighting spirit you will learn more about it:-)

You will get to fight during two different periods night and day. These are exciting times, because you will get to know more about the artistic feeling of the game.

Conclusion: It is a great game that allows you to experience more of Halo. The feeling and the fighting of the game will make you feel that you have a great game right in front of you.

Review Watchmen The End is Nigh Parts 1 and 2:

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

This is part 2 of the Watchmen The End is night Parts 1 and 2. In the part 1 I offered a sneak preview from the part 2 review.

As you are reading this you might be wondering what kind of fighting ways you have. The ways of fighting are basic attacks, combos, throws and finishers is the package of fights that you have with you when you play the game. Another personal favorite is the way of disarming your opponents and grabbing a hold of their weapons. Both Nite Owl and Rorschach has their ways of fighting. Rorschach can do a lot of damage with a short bull rush and Nite Owl grenades stun everybody in the nearby area.

When you are going around the town and fighting your way through it, you will face a few different type of thugs and lowlifes. They will all have different strength and weaknesses. One thing that I have noticed about the game is if you face a group of thugs it is extremely hard to fight yourself out of it. During the game you will notice that the enemies will have different fighting styles this will make you use your entire arsenal of fighting styles. In the beginning it it is tough learning all of these different fighting styles, I have found that it takes time to learn it but when you have learned them the game is extremely fun to play.
I have found it to extremely fun playing and fighting because it will allow me to feel like I am there right now. One thing that I have found to be fun is that when Rorschach gets mad after maiming an entire biker gang he jams his hands into his overcoat.
It is nice to play and to enjoy. With the games that I have played for the last few months I have to say that this is one of my favorites. It is as great game that will allow you to enjoy a good session of XBOX 360. Go ahead an get it you will not regret it.

Wolfenstein for XBOX 360 review

Friday, August 28th, 2009

I have been playing and enjoying Wolfenstein for XBOX 360 for the last week. In the game you play as the Aliide agent B.J. BLazkowicz which in my opinion is every Germans worst enemy. In this game you uncover a mysterious artifact something that is called Black Sun Energy. It is up to you to stop the Third Reich from developing it into a weapon. Within minutes you are sent to Germany and located in the middle of Germany cooperating within local resistance groups.

It is not one of your typical games. You use your local city as a hub where you launch yourself into various missions. This allows you to explore the city more hten before and if you remember the original Wolfenstein 3D, you will immediately recognise what is happening. You can meet up with various contacts around the city and start new missions. This allows you to go off into new levels that you did not experience before. When you feel that you are finished with this you can go back to the city levels.

When walking around Isenstadt I have noticed that it only takes a couple of seconds to walk around the city levels, Ideally I would like to see more resistance in this levels. You will notice that when you play the game that you go up and down the streets alot of times meeting with various resistance groups. On the compass there is a constant marker for you to tell you where you need to go, this is a huge help for me since I have more then once walked down the wrong street:-)

You can compete a mission for one group and then beeing told to meet another group where you will get another new mission. There is not much of a choice here, you are beeing told where to go and what to do.There is alot of things to blow up here:-)

Combating in Wolfenstein is really nice. There is alot of stuff that flyes by when grenades are beeing thrown and covers that are beeing shredded by gunfire. When you are running low on ammo there is always the option of finding more exotic weapons. You will not be able to upgrade to all of the weapons, but you will find interesting weapons that allows you get better range, accuracy, recoil dampening and much more.

Most of you reading this reading this review are probably wondering where is the magical powers in wolfenstien, because without the magical weapons there is just not Wolfenstein. In this game there is a mystical amulet that gives you special powers. It acts like night, but it also shows the enemy weak spot and beeing able to travel between different dimensions. When you are standing in front of a wall that you can not go through but when you turn on Veil Sight you can go straight through the wall. THis could also allow you to flank enemy positions. There is alot of different options that you can find with the Veil Sight.

You will face all from Wehrmact infantry to SS Troopers to much more. There is more exotic foes out there also, such as the Heavy Trooper and Assassin.
I really enjoy the graphics that Wolfenstein has, but when you go out into the missions that takes you out of the city. The enviroment out there is amazing. They have really created a game that has a an awesome graphics engine. THe audio is in one word awesome. Put your ears close to the speakers and you will hear the sounds from the weapons firing.

When finishing this game I have found that it allows you to have and it takes around nine hours to finish. If you are looking for a game that you will enjoy and love this is the game to get.Activision has created a great game for all the users out there.

Thoughts on Halo Wars

Monday, July 20th, 2009

After creating three succesfull first person shooter games in Halo, the scenario changes in Halo Wars where the United Nations Space Command story rewinds back a couple of decades. In this game you are granted command of both the human UNSC forces and their archenemy, the theocratic alliance of the Covenant. The game offers a cinematic presentation and a simple control scheme that allows you to pick up and play the game without any trouble.

The story of the game is presented by some great scenes. They certainly offers the quality that makes you want to continue to play the game continously. On top of that the great scenes and units allows the games to be more and more like a part of the halo series. I found myself in the beginning to be slightly confused but as I continued to play the game I found the game to be more easy to understand and play. The Halo Wars experience starts in a world called Harvest, where you can find the UNSC battleship Spirit of Fire teams leader Sgt. John Forge is inspecting Covenant activitity. A plot will soon be uncovered where an Arbiter in charge of the Covenant get’s his hands on a mysterious superweapon.

When you first start playing the game you will notice that there is two tutorials and with a couple of more lessons you will notice that the role of the UNSC and Covenant forces will be more clear for you. Playing the game I have found that the controls actually work good but the trouble is that you are limited with what you can actually do with them. You can select all different types of units within one area but the problem is that you can not assign a unit to a custom group. You can not fight a battle on two different fronts properly.

To get an army outside of an building you have to click on a building to access its build menu. If you want to return to the base you can do it with a simple press on the D-pad. This will give you some trouble when you are inside a battle. Although for the most part controlls actually work fairly well.

When you actually control the groups. The controls are great. Leading the marines , Spartans, Warthogs and Scorpion tanks are all exciting. The addition of weapons such as Flamethrowers, Cobras and Wolverine vehicles work really well against the infantry, structures, vehicles and aircrafts. You will notice that you are allowed to control up to three of the iconic Spartan soldiers. These soldiers has a couple of key benefits compared to the regular infantry soldiers, you are now allowed to hijack enemy vehicles, pilot a friendly vehicle to be able to boost it’s efectiveness.

The Covenant forces also have powerful infantry at their disposal, including energy-sword-equipped Elites, Brutes, and Hunters, which I have found to be usefull against vehicles. These allows you to have a fair competition between the enemy forces.

When you are building your army for the first time you have to produce alot of resources at each level. Becaudse you have limited ammount of buildings you have to choose properly what you want to build it with. It is a great game that I really enjoy playing. It is one of those games that you should have with every XBOX 360 out there.
