Microsoft and Family Guy commercials out now

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Microsoft has released the Family Guy Windows 7 commercials. They are fun to watch and gives you a laugh.

As a part of the roll out of Windows 7, Microsoft had prepared some ads/clips/video featuring The Family Guy. There was going to be a special episode of the show that would tout Windows 7. That approach got abandoned, but now Microsoft has put some of the clips up on its YouTube channel. Is it me, or does Stewie resemble Steve Ballmer just a bit too closely?

Tracy and Matt unboxes the Omnia Pro with 6.5

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Tracy and Matt have gotten ahold of the Samsung Omnia Pro with 6.5. It is one of those devices that makes your jaw dropp.

The B7610 then is a Windows Mobile 6.5 professional handset with a sliding QWERTY keyboard. Similar in size and design to the HTC Touch Pro2. The B7610 though has a 3.5″ 480×800 AMOLED display which is just stunning. I am so impressed with Samsung’s LCDs lately, they really seem to be able to get that right. The QWERTY keyboard is also a nice feature. Sure there are plenty of sliding QWERTY devices out there at the moment but Samsung have chosen not to cram too many keys in to the small space and instead have kept to 4 rows of reasonably large keys. Anyone with large fingers like me will be pleased with the size.

Jkkmobile unboxes Acer netbook with Android

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

JKKmobile has gotten a hold of the Acer Aspire netbook with Android and have unboxed it. Persoanlly I was suprised that the Android portion was not that well designed. What do you guys think? Is this something for you?

Getting it running was the worse and slowest process ever.

Testing more now…

.. so far the whole Android part seems to be quite a hack. Not that nice to use either

Mobilitysite reviews the Samsung Moment

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Chris over at Mobilitysite has played with the Samsung Moment for Sprint and have shared his impressions with us. He likes the experience and found that it gives him a pleasant experience.

Overall, I am was pretty impressed with the Moment despite it’s pretty basic software package. The size that many have complained about it not an issue for me coming from someone that loves slide out keyboard devices. Until I held the Motorola Droid, I expected any slider to have that extra heft that the Moment carries. The good news is that the Samsung Moment is pretty light weight compared to other similarly sized phones.

Bottom line, if you are a Sprint customer or plan to be and want an Android powered phone, you can choose between the HTC Hero or the Samsung Moment currently. If you want a physical keyboard, the Moment is you choice. If a physical keyboard is not a concern, the HTC Hero offers a more feature rich experience.

Updated impressions of the Zune HD

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Updated impressions of the Microsoft Zune HD
I have been using my Zune HD on and on off for the last couple of weeks now, alternating between my Zune 120 and HD. One clear difference that I have noticed with the 120 and HD is that the HD has much much better sound then what the 120 has. If I listen to 50 Cents latest album I will notice a clear difference between the two different units.
One thing that I really enjoy about my HD is the fact that it is so thin. I can carry it with me all the time and having it in my jeans pocket. It is actually not much bigger then my wallet actually. An accessory that I can really recommend for the HD is the Invisible Shield. I actually had a small scratch at the bottom of my device, and to this day I have not regretted it. It has saved my Zune HD from scratches a lot of times. I am one of those persons that can put a lot of things in my pocket without really thinking about it.
The colors on the HD are in one word amazing. When you watch either a movie or a TV show downloaded from the Zune marketplace you will notice how nice it feels to look at the screen. You have the option of watching either Standard definition or High definition content on that screen from Zune marketplace. They truly have created a portable device.
In around the design of the Zune HD I have the Platina version 32 GB. It is really good looking IMHO. It is a color that works both in dark and light areas. The controls of the ZUNE HD are easy to understand. At the top of the device you have a on and off button, on the left side you have a control button which allows you to access the controls of your device through the software and on the front control button which allows you to control the device to get to the home screen.
Web surfing is actually surprisingly good. With the latest 4.3 update they have made the websurfing more refined. It is much easier to use and control. The games that Microsoft have added with the 4.3 update is really exciting. Driving a Ferrari through the streets or surfing around is amazing with the 3D gaming capability.

Having the Droid signal on other phones

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

We have all heard about the Droid and it signal Droid Droid. Veronica Belmont have come up with a way for you to have that signal on your smartphone of choice. Sit back nad watch her video. After you have watched it, you will install it onto your device:-)

Unfortunately, I realized after the fact that it would have been much funnier to make it the default ringtone on his phone for all calls. You can get the sound here for your own personal enjoyment.
