HP iPAQ Data Messenger – Optical Navigation Enhancement

I was curious when I saw the HP iPAQ Data Messenger – Optical Navigation Enhancement upgrade for the Data Messenger since I have not had any issues with mine. What suprised me is that this is actually a software that allows you to set the speed of  optical navigation. It is a small software upgrade. If you have a 56 K modem the software utility takes less then a minute to download.

This softpaq enhances the navigation experience on the HP iPAQ Data Messenger device. It allows the users to set the speed preference for the 5-way Optical Navigation key to Slow, Medium, or Fast. By default, the speed level is set to Medium.

The package contains the Optical Navigation Setting application only for the products supporting the following SKU IDs or Product IDs: FB149AA#ABA, FB149AA#B16, FB149AA#ARE, FB149AA#ABG, FB149AA#UUF, FB149AA#ABB, FB149AA#ABE, FB149AA#ABF, FB149AA#ABD, FB149AA#ABZ, FB149AA#ABH,FB149AT#ABB, FB149AT#ABE, FB149AT#ABF, FB149AT#ABZ, FB149AT#ABD, and FB149AT#ABH.

To find the SKU ID or Product ID on the iPAQ device, tap Start > Settings > System > HP Asset Viewer > System.

So did I noticed any difference when using the software to set the speed for the optical navigation? Slow was to slow for me to really use it:-) Medium was ok but I was missing the speed that you get with fast. It is so much easier when you have that extra speed that you get with the option of when you are using fast. This was my update of the HP iPAQ Data Messenger – Optical Navigation Enhancement.
