For the last couple of weeks I have been playing with the latest version of SBSH Facade for Windows Mobile Standard. A user customizable interface for Windows Mobile Standard. Compared to the earlier versions this one offers tabs for Calendar, Tasks, Programs and Home tab, where the earlier version of Facade offered a single tab for all of the items.

I have used it with these two Windows Mobile Standard based devices;

  • HP IPAQ Voice Messenger
  • HTC Snap

The first tab that we have to look at is the Home Tab. At the top you will see the signal strength for your device at the moment, your operator namne. Below this you will see the tabs that you can switch between. At the moment I am at the home tab. If I want to I can easily move to either program or calendar tabs by moving left and right.  Below this you will see the tab called Normal which shows what profile I am currently using.  If I move down to normal and press it, it will show me what current profiles that I have to switch between.

Below the profiel I have the time and date. On my current theme it shows me time both in digital and analog form. Say if I left on a vacation to my sister in Florida and I wanted to change the timezone to see the local time on my device I move down to the clock and open it up. I can change it to display the correct timezone:-)

Below this you will see a tab called ‘Ingen påminnelse’, this tab shows me what kind of alarms I have running at the moment. Below this we have the shortcuts to software on your device; email, missed calls, text-message and voice-mail. If you want you can customize these shortcuts.

The next part covers the calendar and tasks currently active.  Nice way to show if you have anything currently active at the moment.

The next tab is the Calendar tab. This part shows you the current and upcoming tasks. If you want to you can have it display the active items for your next day as-well as the option of showing for your upcoming 120 days (You change these options in the Settings menu). One option that you have is based on the priority of your different items you can have them display different icons. If you use other SBSH software you can have them display the current weather conditions for that day.

After this tab we have the Tab for Tasks. This one displays your current active tasks.  Considering that you have the option of displaying your current tasks items on the Schedule tabs you can always hide this part if you want to in the settings. Personally I have found it to be a good way to separate the different items that I have going on at the moment.

This is the option of displaying a months view in front of you. You cna if you want to move between different dates and months to see properly what you are going to do and when.

The last tab is the program tab. Here you can use the pre-defined items that Facade has or create your own shortcuts.

Now it is time to move onto the more exciting part customizing the looks and feeling of your device. You have range of different options such as switching the color scheme, how much information you want to have displayed. If you want to you have the option of moving different tabs around or hiding the task tab.

There is already themes out there for you with landscape based smart-phones; Myphone 5.0, ,MyBerry and preFace. Good themes for you out there with Windows Mobile Standard landscape based themes. I am waiting on a good theme for my Voice Messenger:-)

Conclusion: A great way of customizing your device. The feature set that SBSH have included in this software moves your smart-phone to another level.They have created a customizing software for Windows mobile Standard that fits people of all ages. Moving between and customizing the tabs is a breeze.

Where to buy: You can get a copy of your own over at SBSH’s website.
