I have been using the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1i on and off for the last couple of weeks. It is exciting that they have managed to integrate six screens into one. The first thing you see when you turn on the Xperia is the regular standard Windows Mobile todayscreen. I got the black and silver version and when you turn it on for the first time you will get the black Xperia theme, you also got the option of using a silver Xperia theme. If you go ahaead and purchase the silver version I think that you will see the silver Xperia theme for the first time. You can have up to six different panels on your device. As it is right now we do not have alot of panels to choose between but after using several different panels I think that I have managed to find a good mix on what I want to use and not use.

Mine are the folllowing:

  • Standard Windows Mobile panel
  • Facebook
  • Di.se
  • Google
  • SPB Mobile Shell
  • FM Radio Panel
  • Music and Video Panel
  • SE Clock panel

On the front of the device you have button you have to press to allow the switching between different panels. At first I thought it was going to be slow but I was suprised to see the quickness of the test and then I have ROM that is dated September last year. One panel that is good to use during these economic times is the panel from Dagens Industri, the Swedish version of Wall Street Journal. It allows you to follow the stock market development and seeing how the stock market develops and the current financial news.

The Google and Facebook panel are two panels that are really nice to use.  They allow you to be social both when you are mobile and when you are at home.  The Facebook panel is really nice to use. What I really like is the fact that I update my status when I want to so that my family can see what I do.

One software that I have used on all of my devices is SPB Mobile Shell. It gives you a new way of looking and using your devices. SPB and SE have managed to integrate the whole software into one item that allows you too fully use your device that you want to. One thing that I am interested in hearing more about is if  there is any plans on upgrading it since version 3.0 of Mobile Shell is right around the corner.

It really has a few interesting media options. You have one that is dedicated for Movies/Music but I do not like that there is no support for DIVX/AVI. Otherwise it works perfectly. I can play music and see album pictures without any trouble at all. The other one is the FM radio panel. It can search for news channels and play from them without any trouble.
