Swedish Tech Report

Matt Mill over at The Mobile Gadgeteer is playing with the Ipod Nano 5:th Generation and have putten together a review for us.

Like I said, I never planned to buy a new iPod prior to the announcements, but am very pleased with the iPod nano 5th generation and plan to spend a lot more time with it out running. I bought an arm band case to use with the nano so I can easily take it with me when I hit the road.

Just earlier I received a couple of accessories from Griffin Technology . A company that I really have to come when it comes to accessories for your iPod. A couple of cases that I really like but there is one thing that really peeked my interest. The powerdock. It comes in two different versions one adapted for the ipod/iphone with two slots and the second version with four slots that works with both your ipod and iphone.
Currently as you may see in the picture below I have a Nano and an Ipod Touch in the picture below. It works excellent with both of these two. You also get dock adapters that allows you too work with every ipod out there right now.

There is one case that I really like that I got and that is the Neushell. A case that allows you to have slimness of your touch but at the same time you can have that extra protection that you need.
My laptop broke down the last night and I have been sitting the last 24 hours trying to rescue everything. I have managed to save pictures and files on my device. When such a things happens you do not know what you want do.
As it looks right now I am still using my Voice Messenger. It is an excellent phone in a small candybar shape but what I really like about is that you have so many features packed into such a small device. It is just one of those things that makes you extremely happy. I am one of those persons that switches phones quickly but with the Voice Messenger I have actually become happy. I can not really see myself switching phones any time soon. Just look at this beautiful picture below:-)

I have been playing Crazy Snowboard on my Touch and really like it. I have gotten stuck at the 10th level and have had a hard time getting through that level. It is an excellent game that I really recommend if your looking for one. When you have finished a mission you can with the help of the extra points buy nices extras for your person.

With all the criticism that Apple has gotten about the new Shuffle I personally have to say that I really like this new one. It is small enough to carry with you each day but at the same it is one those things that you could easily use as USB key also.  It reminds me alot of my favorite Shuffle the first generation.

Earlier this week I was watching the latest Family Guy episode and they had joke with Bill Gates and Zune. It was and is extremly fun to watch. I recommend that you take a look at it and tell us what you think:-) I can not stop watching it:-)

I have been playing with my Touch now on and off and trying different software. Thinking what I need or do not want to use. One free game that I have enjoyed using is iMafia, a game where you connect to a server and experience mafia stuff such as robbery or extorsion.

I have been looking for a good twitter client to use and naturally I started out with the free version Twitterific. People have been recommending Twittelator Pro but naturally I wanted to start with the free version and see how it works:-)

One thing that I always am on the lookout for is a good ebook reader and alot of people have been telling me about the Stanza and naturally I wanted to try it based on their recommendation:-) You can get free books from different databases or if you purchased books from eReader it also supports using them.

I have always been a big fan of Sim City and having played all of the PC versions. I have been using it and really enjoyed playing it. I really like playing. It feels like an excellent port of Sim City 3000. You have advisors giving recommendations on what you should. One time it recommended me to invest more because the property value is to low.

This is an item that I recieved a couple of weeks ago and wanted to fully test with old and new ipods before I posted anything about it. Fireant have released an amasing 2.1 audiosystem called Tribe. It comes in several different colors and the one I recieved was the red one.  The first thing I noticed about the color of the audiosystem was that it looks so good. It feels liek the day when you for the first time buy a new car and see the amazing color quality.

First impressions: 

It truly stands out where I have put it right now. It is just amazing seeing that red and bright color right in front of me. When you see it for the first time you will have the same thought that I had and that’s vow.     Even when it looks so big it does not feel that big to carry with me all the time.

What I liked with it at first was if I inserted my Ipod and played  Coldplay it sounded awesome. If I inserted my sister and played Rihanna it sounded awesome.

 
Usage and design:

Another thing I I noticed when I first started playing with it was that both the remote and the tribe feelt extremely easy to use. It feels like they have designed it with the user in mind.   When I used the remote I noticed how easy it is to use.  The buttons are big and easy to press.  That’s a big benefit for somone like me because I have big hands.

On all the places I have tried the tribe I have found that it looks amazing everywhere. It really blends in everywhere.  It looks amazing on tables,shelfs or benchs. 

One thing that I have noticed when I have used it is that you can use something such as the 3.5 mm headphone jack to connect it to your computer. You really get alot of options with it. It not only is a great ipod system but also a great system for your comptuer. I enjoy using it with my computer and enjoy the fact that you get so many options with it. To many ipod systems have only one function but with this one you get everything you want with it.

You also have USB port on the back side. With this you could sync your ipod with your computer. I have mine hooked up to my computer to both play music from and sync with my computer.

My music taste is really varied, I have played Coldplay, U2, 50 Cent, Leonna Lewis and  Beatles on my Tribe and I really like that I get the same great audioquality with alll of my music.

It really is exciting what you can use with a device like this.  On the front of the device you have blue light that shows you when the Tribe is running.  On alot of devices I have found that a blue light at the front can be disturbing but this one is discreet and good looking. Two factors that I really enjoy with a solution like this.

There is also another cool options that you can do with it. You can adjust the bass and the treble on the device. There is just something special with the Tribe. One the back of the Tribe you have alot expansion ports, I think that this is  system that you potentially could hook up to a bigger audiosystem, for example your home cinema system with the help of your builtin RCA jack. 

Conclusion: It is an awesome sound solution. The features and hardware that you get with this unit makes it awesome in my eyes.

This has to be the coolest trick. Connecting your G1 to an IPOD dock. It’s really interesting to see what people can do. Check it out over here.

This is the time to be jolly hohohohho. All of us here are persons who love christmas, but the thing that we always ask us is what gadgets we want to get us and our loved ones this Christmas.

The best netbooks to get:

The two netbooks two get this christmas have to be the Acer Aspire One and the LG X110. Two netbooks that for the value offers alot of money.  The Acer stands out with alot of features for the money while the X110 feels like the device that fits the persons who want just that little extra for Christmas, with features such as builtin 3G and an extra inch in screen size it offers an extra value that can not be beaten at all. Altough personalyl I belive that all netbooks really are the same and the thing that matters is what shell and specific features that you wnat in your device. I’ve also had the option of trying the Asus EEE900 and 1000h. Those two are impressive devices that also stands upp well in todays market.

Swedish Tech Report favorite smartphones of the year:

It has to be the IPAQ 910 and the HTC Touch Pro. The 910 is an  amazing workhorse that continues to work without any trouble at all. It has impressive features such as 1940 mah battery, impressive qverty keyboard and a screen that continues to be impressive. It’s my favorite device this year and the one  that I can always trust.  The Touch Pro is the right device ofr the people who want a device with a VGA screen, it sports impressive features such as a FM radio, sliding keyboard, and a frontfacing camera for those times that you want to do video calling. My Data Messenger will get on the list when I get a hold of the updated ROM version. That will hopefully be soon:-) Who can forget the most impressive one of the year the HTC Touch HD that sports a WVGA screen, 5 Megapixel and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Probably the most impressive device to be jolly about. The smartphone equivalent has to be the Voice Messenger it’s an impressive smartphone with it’s keyboard, excellent camera, built in software and the D-pad. Im hopefull that this one will arrive here in Sweden.

Swedish Tech Report favorite mediaplayers of the year:

This year will be a combination of the Zune and the IPOD since for me those offers the mediaexperience that is need today.  Microsoft has released an impressive solution with the Zune harddrive and flash version Two that works really well and that I think will take next year by storm. Who can forget Apple that has the most impressive lineup of all the manufacturers out htere.  They got the Nano, Classic, Touc and the Iphone.  All devices that work really well and gives the users nothing but happiness altough it would be weird otherwise considering that they are dominating the market today:-) Next year will be really exciting since we will probably see the fourth generation of the Zune and new and improved ipods.  With happy times likes this coming to us who can not be nothing but happy? Im happy and looking forward to the new year already.

Last year, our Zune vs. Classic Prizefight ended in a tie. This year, Microsoft’s underdog MP3 player finally inches ahead of the iPod Classic, taking some strong blows in our Compatibility round, but scoring a big victory with its Sound and science score. As Microsoft continues to aggressively update its high-capacity Zune MP3 player with new features, Apple seems all too content leaving its Classic alone and focusing on its Flash memory models: the iPod Touch and iPod Nano.

Definitely an interesting article to read, especially since I enjoy using my Zune.  If Microsoft moves the Zune into Europe I think that they would get a bigger market share.

One of the shows that I follow regularly each week is Chuck, a story about a Buy More employe who somehow get the governments database in his head, in one of the latest episodes Chuck Versus Tom Sawyer Chuck asks Morgon why he has a Zune?.
